Learn more about French history!
The Pantheon of Paris is a masterpiece of French architecture of the 18th century, built on the Sainte-Genevieve mount. Originally, it was designed by the architect Soufflot, to be a catholic church, commissioned by King Louis XV after he suffered a serious illness.
But when the French revolution started, the building was turned into a sanctuary for significant French people. It became a pantheon for good in 1885, after the funeral of Victor Hugo.
Your private tour will start with the history and architecture of this place, before going down to the crypt to discover the tombs of more than 70 famous French men and women!
You will learn about scientists Pierre and Marie Curie, Louis Braille who invented the Braille system for blind people, Voltaire and Rousseau (rival philosophers, now facing each other forever), and a lot more...
Why do I love leading this tour?
"To be honest, when I started to prepare and read for this tour, I wasn't that much into it, but the more I learnt about it, the more I wanted to know about all of those famous writers, scientists, politicians, philosophers and much more! And now I always love guiding this tour, away from the crowds"
